- 1/2 cup Shallots, chopped
- 1/4 cup Low-sodium soy sauce
- 3 tablespoons Fresh lemon juice
- 3 tablespoons Balsamic vinegar
- 1 tablespoon Olive oil
- 2 teaspoons Fresh thyme
- 1 teaspoon Dried oregano
- 4 Garlic cloves, minced
- 2 pounds Boneless top round steak, trimmed
- 1/2 teaspoon Salt
- 1/4 teaspoon Black pepper, freshly ground
Instructions
- Combine chopped shallots, low-sodium soy sauce, fresh lemon juice, balsamic vinegar, olive oil, fresh thyme, dried oregano, and minced garlic in a large zip-top plastic bag.
- Pierce the top round steak with a fork. Add the steak to the bag, seal, and marinate in the refrigerator for 2 hours, turning every 30 minutes.
- Preheat the broiler.
- Remove the steak from the bag and discard the marinade. Scrape shallots and garlic from the steak, discarding them. Place the steak on a broiler pan coated with a thin layer of olive oil.
- Sprinkle the steak evenly with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Broil 4 inches from heat for 6 minutes on each side or until the desired degree of doneness.
- Let the steak stand for 10 minutes before slicing against the grain.
