Baked BBQ Chicken

Ingredients

  • 5 lbs Whole chicken, cut up
  • To taste Garlic pepper seasoning
  • 4 tablespoons Butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup Water
  • 2 tablespoons Lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup Ketchup
  • 2 teaspoons mustard
  • 6 tablespoons Brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons Paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Red pepper flakes
  • 1 teaspoon Salt (adjust to taste)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 450°F.
  2. Pat chicken dry and place on a lightly greased foil-lined baking sheet. Season generously with garlic pepper seasoning.
  3. To make the BBQ sauce, melt butter, then mix in water, lemon juice, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire, ketchup, mustard, butter, brown sugar, chili powder, paprika, red pepper flakes, and salt in a bowl.
  4. Cover both sides of the chicken with BBQ sauce.
  5. Bake skin side up for 40-45 minutes, basting with the BBQ sauce every 15 minutes.
  6. Turn the oven to broil for the last two minutes of baking and broil for 1-2 minutes to crisp up the skin. Watch it carefully.
  7. Remove from the oven and let the chicken rest for about 5-7 minutes before serving.
